According to reports from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, sophomore forward Trevor Mbakwe has informed Marquette that he is quitting the men's basketball team. Instead of returning to Milwaukee to begin the fall semester he has remained in his hometown of St. Paul, Minn.

Two weeks ago, I wouldn't have been able to tell gold medalist Nastia Liukin from Natasha Bedingfield. I would have tried to buy an Usain Bolt from the Home Depot on Roosevelt. Handball would have only brought to mind a penalty in soccer, and I would have guessed Shawn Johnson was a governor and candidate for John McCain's VP spot, not a perky 16 year-old Olympic champion.

Despite Notre Dame's disappointing 2007 season, it can expect a bevy of freshmen to enter the fall ready to compete. With one of the top-ranked recruiting classes in the nation, this could be exactly the case.
On the offensive side of the ball, Michael Floyd, Kyle Rudolph and Trevor Robinson have the best chance to see playing time early in the season.
